Bannerwoman's Eyelet Tutorial

Written by:  Bannerwoman June 23rd, 2004

Materials Needed:
  • PSP 7, 8 or 9 (You can get a free 30 day trial here.)

Lets Get Started!

1. Open new image, 150x150, 300ppi.

2. Click on the Shapes Tool.

Set it to ellipse, and make the line width 40. (Note: I use light grey or dark grey to make my eyelets, that way I can colorize them to what ever color I want. Using the lighter grey to make pastel like colors, and the dark grey for deeper colors.)

3. Starting at 25, 25 on your new image,

hold down the shift key and drag down to 125, 125.

**You have to remember when using the shape key, whatever you make your width, half will appear on the outside of the guide, and half will be on the inside.

Your image should now look like this:

4. **At this point you may want to convert this layer to a raster layer if you made you shape vector.

5. Using the wand, click anywhere on the grey area, this should select the eyelet shape.

6. Go to effects/3d effects/inner bevel and apply the following settings, or any that you like. You can download my preset here, just place it in your presets folder.

That's it.

Now you can save as a tube, or a psp file. Take out for use when ever you want, and colorize to the desired effect.

Here are a couple of examples.

This one was done from a lighter colors grey, like the one above.

This one was done from a darker grey, giving it a deeper purple color.

I hope this tutorial was of some use!  If you find any mistakes or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  I'd love to hear any thoughts or ways I could improve on this tutorial.  Any resemblance of another tutorial is purely coincidence.
