| 1. Choose and image you want to add a shaped frame to. I
will be using the one below. Click on the image to get the full size, and
right click and save it somewhere on your hard drive. (*Note: When choosing
and image for this particular tutorial, you want something that is fairly
centered.*)

2. Now that you have an image you want to use, resize it to an image size
you think will show off your picture best. I suggest anything wider or
higher then 300px.
3. Click on your shapes tool
, choose a shape you want to surround your
image with.

4. Now you have chosen your shape, in the tools options, set your screen to
this:

** I create the image as vector, so I can 'adjust' the position of the shape
easier.
5. Now, once I have the shape where I want it, go to your layers palette (if
its not showing just hit L on your keyboard and it will pop up), and right
click on the Layer1 and convert to raster layer, as shown below.

6. Now that we have our shape on its own layer, we can choose our magic wand
and click anywhere outside our shape. This will select all the area outside
the shape. (If your shape touches the edge, you will need to use SHIFT +
click to select all the areas on the outside of your shape.) Your image
should look something like this....

7. Now go to selections/modify/expand, and expand the selection by 2px.

8. The original line you made should now be enclosed in the marching ants,
and its time to choose a color you want your frame to be. Once you got your
color, choose the flood fill
tool and fill the section with the marching
ants. Should look something like this:

9. Now this part is up to your own personal preference, but you can add
texture, or some type of effect to this border if you would like. I am going
to use Fantastic Machines Paint engine, found
here.
10. Now go to Selections/Invert
so only the inside of your shape is
selected. We are going to now add a cutout and a drop shadow with the
settings below.

This is what we have so far.......

Now is the time for creative framing....I am just going to add a 10px border
and bevel it. Then make a 1024px image height +20, and paste my framed image
to the strip. Here is my end result. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
