Bannerwoman's Homemade Paper Tutorial

Here is my end result of this tutorial.  Remember, this is just a guideline.  I am sure you can add a million things to make this tutorial work for what you want to create.

1.  Open a seamless floral pattern.

2.  Open a new image, 200x200px.  We will just be making a seamless tile, it can be used to flood fill a larger image later.

3.  Flood fill the new image with a color of your choice.  This will be your 'paper' color.

4.  Go to Image/Arithmetic.  Use these settings.  Notice the file names of the images, and where they go.  The image #1 should be your new image with just a background color, and image #2 should be the floral you chose to use.

This is what you should have come up with:

5.  Go to Effects/Artistic Effects/Brush Strokes, use these settings, or any you like.

6.  Go to Effects/Blur/Soft Focus. I used these settings, but feel free to experiment.

7.  Now to add texture to your page.  Go to Effects/Texture/Texture Effects.  I used this, but again, this is a preference thing, so use what ever you like.

8.  Now make this new tile you have created seamless.

That's it.  Save this as you like, and use when ever you want.  I also tend to play with the opacity on these, as I like much softer look to my paper, here is an example of the same paper above, but lower opacity.

Lightened Opacity (50%)

Normal

I hope this tutorial was of some use!  If you find any mistakes or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  I'd love to hear any thoughts or ways I could improve on this tutorial.  Any resemblance of another tutorial is purely coincidence.
