How to Use a Template

Program Used: PSP 8

Open a template sheet. Generally designers sell their templates with several to a sheet. And at times it is hard to ‘cut’ out the one you want to use. This tutorial will show you how I manage using templates, or multi-image sheets.

1.   Select you magic wand, and click on the template you want to extract or use. You should see marching ants surround that entire section of the template. (If the template consists of more then one part, hold the shift key, using the magic wand, click on all the parts to select each piece.)

2.   Now click copy, CTRL+C. This now puts that section of the template to your clip board, ready to be pasted to your paper.

3.   Open your paper you want to use the template with.

4.   Right click on the paper, and paste as new layer. (CTRL+L)

5.   This will center your template dead center of your new paper. Now it is up to you, you can move this template down or up, depending on what part of the paper you want to use. Make sure whatever you want to use is UNDER the template.

6.   Now, on your template layer, select the template again using the magic wand. (Remember if your template is more then one piece, use the shift key to select them all.)

7.   Go back down to layer 1, or ‘background layer’. Click on copy, CTRL+C, then click on edit/paste as new image, or go to your paper you want to put the template on, and right click and paste as new layer. (CTRL+L) .

8.  Bevel or shadow as desired.  Embellish with other accents, or what not, you now have your template cut out.

That’s it. Pretty easy isn’t it? You can do this with pretty much any template.

Happy Scrapping!
